Read what the First Place Winners of the Women's Division had to say about this year's race ...
Over the past week, our team has finally had a chance to reflect on our race. Little did we know that when we signed up for this "adventure race thing" a few weeks ago, it would turn out to be an adventure of a lifetime.
When we arrived that Saturday morning, we were greeted by the race organizers and handed the instructions and maps. As all of the other teams plotted their points with various instruments and markers, we asked to borrow a pen feeling somewhat unprepared, questioning ourselves if we were really ready to do this race. We came up with a plan of action and were ready to listen to the opening race talk. We were very touched by the speech made in remembrance of Jenny. The initials on our jerseys as well as support of her teammates at the start will keep her memory alive.
We truly wanted to extend our most sincere thanks to each and everyone
that organized this race. Although Mother Nature was not exactly on our side that day, completing this race was by far the hardest thing any of us has ever accomplished. It was not only a test of stamina and endurance, but also a test of will power and heart. At times, we ready to give up because we were tired and cold, not to mention that it was raining like hell, but we always kept on going. The support and encouragement we got from the volunteers and other teams helped keep us motivated and focused.
The best feeling was crossing that finish line and getting a hug from John, a little over 8 and a half hours after we started. I don't think at that very moment we realized exactly what we had just done! As you called our names for the First Place Winners of the Female Division, I think we were still in shock from the fact that we actually made it to finish line, without killing each other in the process. We have all competed in several triathlons, but I think the Wild Scallion adventure race tops out as our hardest, yet most memorable race ever. We will never forget this experience and what it taught us about teamwork and friendship. We look forward to the Wild Scallion 2007!
Sincerely,
Team Krazy N Cook'd
